About Us

Import Specialty Service was established back in December of 1994 by Rod Kruse. Rod began his automotive journey at the age of 14 when he began working at Elmer’s Automotive Repair under his father’s mentorship. After Rod’s father Elmer passed away in 1974, Rod began working as a technician in Anaheim, CA. 

He was extremely skilled at his craft, winning a Volvo technician competition in 1982 and was rated as one of the top 11 Volvo car technicians in the USA and Canada. In 1985, Rod and his family relocated to Nashville, TN, and began his plans of opening up his own shop in 1992. Rod’s son, Byron, now manages the shop and continues to operate with the same core values of integrity and earned-trust.

Here at Import Specialty Service, we truly specialize in import vehicles and our narrow focus allows us to provide accuracy and top quality repairs for our customers. The most important aspect of our business is integrity, which we practice in both our work and our customer service. 

We strive to make your visit to our shop as convenient as possible, which is why we offer a clean waiting area with complimentary wifi, coffee, and snacks. In addition, we are a pet friendly facility and a recycling green shop to do our part environmentally.

Our shop originally specialized exclusively in Volvo automobiles, but eventually expanded into many different import vehicles as our staff increased and the expertise of our technical team grew.
