Start with cold tires—generally before driving or after the vehicle has been parked for at least three hours. Remove the valve cap, press a tire pressure gauge firmly onto the valve stem, and compare the reading with the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended pressure. Adjust as needed and replace the valve cap. Check the spare when applicable.
For most passenger vehicles, look on the driver’s door placard or in the owner’s manual. The pressure molded onto the tire sidewall is not necessarily the correct operating pressure for your vehicle. Commercial vehicles may require tire manufacturer load-and-inflation tables based on tire size, configuration and actual axle loads.
Tire pressure drops as temperatures fall, which can trigger the tire pressure monitoring system. Check all tires with a gauge rather than assuming the warning is only weather-related. Inflate them to the specified cold pressure, and have recurring pressure loss inspected for leaks or damage.
No. A TPMS sensor helps warn drivers about pressure problems, but it does not replace regular manual checks. Some tire pressure monitoring systems measure pressure directly, while others infer changes from wheel-speed data. A warning that persists after pressures are corrected may require a leak inspection, system reset or sensor diagnosis.
Use equipment rated for your tires and follow the vehicle and tire manufacturers’ procedures. Check pressure with a tire pressure gauge and inflate to the specified cold pressure; an air compressor does not replace inspections for damage, wear or leaks. A damaged or severely underinflated tire should be assessed by a qualified tire technician before inflation.

Chris VinyardTLDR: They could have easily had me pay for a repair I already thought I needed, but they were honest and told me it wasn't necessary at the time. Had a great first experience with Import Specialty Service. I went in telling them that I thought my front breaks might need to be replaced because they were squeaking. The rear breaks had been replaced about 8 months ago and at the time the other shop (Firestone) I went to suggested I do the front as well even though they weren't in that bad of shape according to them. I opted not to at the time, putting the repair off to spread out expenses. With the closing of the Volvo dealership in Downtown Nashville I was in search of a new shop that could better service our Volvo when it came to more complex maintenance than I trusted a standard shop to complete. Long story short it turns out the front breaks were still OK, and didn't need to be replaced yet. The squeaking was coming from the new rear breaks, but they told me the pads were plenty thick, and it was just a noise on account of the cheaper after market parts that had been used for that repair. So they saved me a bunch of money I didn't need to spend even though they could have gotten away with it. I also had them replace the spark plugs since it was due in the maintenance schedule for the vehicle based on mileage. Which was another reason I'd brought the car in. The spark plug replacement on our 2021 Volvo was no more expensive than the one I had done at another shop for our 2011 Toyota Sienna mini van, so I was pleasantly surprised with the price as I always expect to pay more for repairs on our Volvo/European cars.Posted on Google
